Begin in an intimate luxury lodge in the Sabi Sand reserve, with unhurried days shaped around wildlife, fine food and the sounds of the bush. Then slow the rhythm completely on Benguerra Island, in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago.
We favour characterful safari suites and a beachfront island retreat, with generous space, thoughtful service and time to enjoy both. A carefully placed night in Johannesburg connects the two chapters without relying on a tight same-day international connection.

Welcome to the bush.
Arrive in Johannesburg and continue by a pre-arranged regional flight and lodge transfer to Sabi Sand. Settle into your suite and, if arrival time permits, head out for a first afternoon game drive. Return to a welcoming dinner and the sounds of the bush after dark.

Follow the morning light.
An early game drive with the lodge’s ranger and tracker team introduces the reserve’s landscapes and wildlife. Return for a leisurely breakfast, then spend the warm hours beside the pool or on your private terrace. A late-afternoon drive ends with a sundowner stop when conditions allow.

The details between the sightings.
Another day on safari, with time to notice birds, tracks and the smaller stories of the bush. An optional guided walk may be possible, subject to lodge arrangements and your guide’s assessment. Lunch, a quiet afternoon and an evening drive complete the day.

One more dawn in Africa.
Enjoy a full final day at the lodge. Let the guiding team shape the drives around recent wildlife activity, with no checklist and no rush. A spa treatment or a special dinner setting can be requested in advance, at an additional cost where applicable.

A pause between two worlds.
After breakfast and a final morning activity if flight timings allow, transfer to the regional airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Spend the night in a carefully chosen airport hotel: time to rest, repack and look forward to the ocean.

The Indian Ocean, at last.
Fly to Vilanculos, the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. A pre-arranged island transfer, typically by helicopter for the proposed style of stay, takes you to Benguerra. Settle into your beachfront accommodation and leave the afternoon free for a first swim or a slow walk on the sand.

Settle into island time.
Two full days for long breakfasts, beach walks and reading in the shade. When tides and sea conditions allow, a guided snorkelling excursion introduces the marine environment. Activities and any supplements are agreed with the lodge; nothing needs to fill every hour.

A different shade of blue.
Plan an optional island or sandbank excursion with the lodge, tailored to tides, access rules and weather. A picnic can turn the outing into a memorable day. Return with time for a swim and a quiet evening overlooking the water.

Barefoot, beautifully unhurried.
Keep these days open for the pleasures of your retreat. A traditional dhow sail, kayaking or a wellness treatment can be arranged according to the property’s programme. Certified divers may request a separate diving experience with a qualified operator. All marine outings remain subject to conditions.

A final day to make your own.
Revisit a favourite stretch of beach, linger over lunch and leave room for doing very little. A private farewell dinner can be requested, subject to availability and an additional charge. One final evening under an Indian Ocean sky.

Until the next chapter.
Transfer back to Vilanculos and fly to Johannesburg for your onward journey. International connections are planned with an appropriate buffer; an additional overnight can be quoted if flight schedules require it.

13 days / 12 nights · Price on request. Your quotation is built around travel dates, party size, lodge and room choices, flight arrangements and the experiences you select. No hotel or service is confirmed until booked.
The proposed arrangement is four safari nights, one airport hotel night and seven island nights. Your written proposal will specify regional flights, road and island transfers, meals, drinks, reserve fees and activities, together with all inclusions and exclusions. International flights are quoted separately.
This is an individually arranged journey. Safari vehicles and guided activities normally follow the lodge’s shared arrangements; an exclusive vehicle and private guide can be requested and quoted separately. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
The route is indicative and depends on flight schedules and availability. Day-one arrival must allow the onward safari connection; an extra arrival night can be added if needed. Island activities depend on tides and weather. We select travel dates around your priorities for both safari and beach.
